Challenge
The CQI wanted a website that could incorporate its brand definition, promote its vision of 'placing quality at the heart of every organisation' and support its mission to be the first port of call for all things quality-centric.
A key requirement of the website was integration with the CQI's existing IRIS Integra membership and auditor databases, together with the inclusion of an ecommerce site and existing web forums.
The CQI also wanted a new CMS with improved functionality, usability and interactivity for its customers and members.
Solution
A thorough and vigorous planning process identified the exact requirements of the CQI as well as planning the new IA (information architecture) and site functionality.
The core website was developed using EPiServer 5 CMS. The CMS is scalable to allow future development of CQI microsites in any number of different language versions.
Following CQI's desire to focus on the use of their logo to deliver brand definition, the redesign makes sympathetic use of its colours throughout the site with fresh new imagery to create a bright, clean and modern design. The IA was overhauled and the use of colour-coded sections offers a clear level of distinction between the different areas of the site. The website is easy to use with the site map at the bottom of each page ensuring that all visitors can quickly and easily access the information they require. Like all sites developed by Netcel, www.thecqi.org is search engine friendly, but to further enhance its visibility in relevant search results the CQI commissioned Netcel to provide a post-launch SEO report to ensure the best possible optimisation of content as the site continues to evolve.
Our solution for CQI provides seamless log-in to EPiServer and IRIS Integra CRM. Member provision has been transformed, as the solution interacts with the Integra database to provide membership data and other associated CRM data. The 'MyCQI' section delivers a high level of content personalisation for members through the categorisation of content which drives specific content to registered users. This encourages users to come back to the site to find material that they really want to see time and again on their personalised homepage. Social networking has also been included along with the ability to share pages with social bookmarking sites. Tools such as comments and poll functionality are also available for deployment within the site as required.
Results
Application for membership can now be made online, and an ecommerce shop is available through the use of the EPiStore module of EPiServer, providing shopping basket and checkout functionality all within the EPiServer CMS environment. Payment services for credit card payments are provided through the Protx payment gateway.
A partnership solution resulting in a rapid turnaround of the technical build of the content management solution, together with full project support and training to in-house content editors. The site has received wide praise for its high levels of usability and its clarity of content.
Justin Masters, Technical Director at Netcel commented, 'Our integration of EPiServer with IRIS Integra CRM has revolutionised CQI's online presence, and EPiServer provides a great platform for the future development of the CQI website. Its flexibility permits a wide range of additional features, increased interactivity and multiple sites, and notably it supports all levels of database integration'.
The CQI now possesses a fully extensible, customisable CMS driven website specifically designed to better engage and interact with their current and future members and customers, as well as effectively promoting the organisation as the pre-eminent resource on all aspects of quality.
The website delivers CQI's requirements together with a fully integrated CRM solution and integrated shop, whilst also offering a high level of personalisation and interactivity with members. The site structure and navigation has improved to make the wealth of materials, training courses and information resources quick and easy to access.
By integrating the website to the Integra CRM database, members can also access and manage their own membership profile and update it as required.
The CQI's remit for the provision of knowledge has been facilitated, whilst also actively encouraging membership acquisition and retention through improved functionality and appearance. There is also the scope for increased revenue with the take-up of CQI products such as training courses.
