New ecommerce site boosts sales for Melrose Packaging
Netcel launches ecommerce product catalogue site for Melrose Packaging using Microsoft Commerce Server.
Project requirements
Melrose Packaging is a leading manufacturer and supplier of polythene bags, supplying companies throughout the UK. Their existing web site lacked ecommerce functionality which was resulting in lost business. Netcel was appointed to redesign and redevelop the existing web site incorporating an ecommerce system.
Solution
Melrose required a product catalogue that would allow customers to easily browse through and select appropriate products before adding to their shopping basket and securely make a payment. A complex pricing scheme allowed customers to gain reduced prices depending on the quantities purchased. Staff at Melrose were required to maintain and update product details.
Netcel developed the solution using Microsoft Commerce Server to provide the full functionality required while providing a platform for future developments such as integrating the Melrose back office system with the web site. MS Commerce Server also provides advanced site analytics so that customer's actions could be monitored and the site improved as a result.
The new site provides a significant improvement over the previous site and Melrose are receiving an ever-growing proportion of sales directly from the web site.
