Interim HR Manager

We are looking for an Interim HR Manager on a 6-month contract to manage our People function efficiently and effectively, providing hands on support with both technical HR and pastoral and wellbeing requirements.

Location: Flexible, Hybrid (with offices based in St Albans, Hertfordshire) 

Salary: £50,000 for full time, pro rata for part time

Your Role

We are looking for an Interim HR Manager on a 6-month contract to manage our People function efficiently and effectively, providing hands on support with both technical HR and pastoral and wellbeing requirements. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

HR management
• Handling day-to-day people issues for a team of 40 employees
• Running the HR department in line with GDPR and ISO standards
• Managing payroll and benefits
• Managing the HR budget

Recruitment
• Managing the end-to-end recruitment process (typically for 2-3 roles at any one time)
• Supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
• Liaising with external agencies
• Generating employment contracts and documentation
• Overseeing the onboarding and offboarding process

Learning and development
• Understanding training and development needs across the business
• Organising training and knowledge shares

Performance management
• Supporting managers with formally reviewing employee performance through quarterly reviews and annual appraisals

Line management
• Direct line management of a small team of 2-3 people, consisting of an HR & Recruitment Assistant, Office Coordinator and Assistant Finance Manager

Special HR projects
• Overseeing the introduction of new HRIS & OKR platform

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

• CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience
• Solid understanding of UK employment law and ACAS guidelines
• Experience working in professional services or consulting firms (preferably tech/digital)
• Strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit
• The ability to manage varied and multiple tasks
• Experience in communicating with all levels of a company’s hierarchy
• High levels of discretion
• Excellent attention to detail
