Senior / Lead .NET Developer

Location: Primarily St Albans with flexibility for remote working

We are looking for a Senior or Lead .NET Developer with at least 4 years’ experience to join us at an exciting point in our ambitious growth plans. You’ll be working closely with colleagues in the tech team, but also collaborating closely with a wider multi-disciplinary team including UX and UI designers, business analysts, UI developers, quality engineers and project managers. Together, your focus is on creating, delivering and optimising digital products for our clients.


With the Episerver (Optimizely) Digital Experience Platform at the core of digital products, you’ll be working across content, commerce, data, experimentation, and AI powered integrated digital solutions.


You will need a keen interest in digital product development and related technologies with an attention to detail and pride in your work. You should thrive on the challenge to see solutions, not only through requirements, but through data and alternative designs, embracing uncertainty and challenging preconceived notions.


Experience with Episerver (Optimizely) is desirable though experience with other digital experience or headless platforms will also make you an ideal candidate for this role.


Working alongside our Technical Director and Solution Architects through all stages of the development lifecycle, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on-time and to a high standard.


We have a structured on-boarding and training process that will continue to enhance and develop your knowledge and experience on a continual basis alongside your own self-learning and your ability to quickly develop new skills and knowledge.

What you will be doing

  • Developing and integrating innovative customer-centric digital products for our clients from a diverse range of sectors using .NET and the Episerver (Optimizely) Digital Experience Platform
  • Leading, mentoring, and educating more junior team members
  • Helping develop the technology team initiatives to improve and develop Netcel’s processes, standards and frameworks 
  • Contributing to an open team culture of code reviews, communication, quality and challenging ideas
  • Developing your knowledge of new and evolving standards and technologies to develop new skills and share these with your colleagues

Activities

  • Working closely with solution architects and business analysts to create and estimate technical tasks necessary to meet user stories / requirements
  • Lead daily stand-ups, with multiple project teams
  • Coding, primarily using C# and JavaScript to deliver against architectural designs, technical requirements and acceptance criteria to deliver on project goals 
  • Working with quality assurance through demonstrations and walk throughs for them to validate that the desired acceptance criteria has been delivered

Skills and Experience

You will need to be able to demonstrate your capabilities in: 
Skills 

  • Strong technology skills for the delivery of web-based digital products using C#, .NET 5 and previous .NET framework versions
  • Estimating development tasks accurately
  • Communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills to deliver clear and concise messages appropriate for the audience
  • Ability to manage your time and workload effectively
  • Having a consultative approach to work, acting as a trusted advisor to both clients and colleagues.

Knowledge

  • Proficient knowledge of broader web development skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React, Angular or Vue), security, accessibility, performance and integration architecture
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server, Azure SQL and the wider services and features within Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge of architectural patterns including REST APIs
  • Working knowledge of developing and integrating with third party systems following cloud-first, modern API approaches and MACH alliance concepts
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, configuration management, unit testing frameworks, and approaches to automated testing.
  • Knowledge of software development industry best-practise, design patterns and advancements (IoC, repository patterns, etc.)
  • Knowledge and advocate of agile development practices

Existing knowledge of Episerver (Optimizely) or other digital experience or headless platforms is desirable though not essential.
