The challenge
Trade and business customers expect buying online to be as simple as their everyday tools, whether they're placing a quick reorder or managing complex account pricing and approvals. For more than 135 years, Arco has helped organisations create safer working environments. Netcel partnered with Arco to replace its legacy SAP Hybris platform with a modern, composable solution that gives its teams more control and its customers a faster, simpler way to buy.
What we did
We built the new platform on Optimizely CMS, using our Optimizely expertise to design a composable architecture that brings together React, Algolia search and Arco's own commerce services. Collaboration was key throughout, beginning with strategic planning sessions to align business requirements and agree the architectural approach. This resulted in a phased roadmap that delivered value early while minimising migration risk, and laid the foundations for experimentation and personalisation with Optimizely Experimentation and Optimizely Data Platform
Outcomes
As well as a modern, composable foundation, the new platform has transformed how Arco trades online. Content, marketing and trading teams can now launch pages, campaigns and merchandising in days rather than months, with far less reliance on developers. Conversion has improved on both mobile and desktop, and 50% more customers are returning for a second purchase. Importantly, Arco now has the foundations to keep testing, personalising and growing.
"What began as a platform migration has become a broader shift in how Arco delivers and grows through digital."
